I am a qualified pre and post natal yoga teacher. I trained with Awakened Spirit Yoga School and chose them because they train doulas. I wanted to learn about how to care for the journey of pregnancy, birth and matresence in a holistic and whole body/soul way.

This was especially important for me as a yoga teacher going through my own twin pregnancy, birth and postpartum experience.

I love working with clients through pregnancy and sharing the wonderful gifts a yoga practice offers. We cover lots of postures and movement to support the body - to feel more ease, to build strength to support our growing baby and belly, and to support labour positions. We take a deep dive into breath to help stay calm, to breathe through intensity, to use breath to connect to our body and our pelvic floor.

I also incorporate time for deep relaxation to give space for rest, nourishment and the mother baby connection.

I am a strong believer in maternal choice and in supporting each woman’s individual wishes and journey. While I had hoped for a natural, unmedicated birth myself and prepared deeply for that experience, I also came to understand another side of birth when I developed preeclampsia and had an emergency caesarean section.

Similarly, after hoping to breastfeed and trying tirelessly to make that possible, I experienced many different aspects of infant feeding when complications arose — from breastfeeding and triple feeding to formula feeding and navigating CMPA. Like many mothers, I discovered that the early days of motherhood can be beautiful, emotional, and unexpectedly challenging.

These experiences have deepened my compassion and strengthened my passion for supporting women and families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in all their different forms. They have inspired me to continue learning as much as I can so I can support families through the many twists and turns this journey can bring.

This autumn, I will begin Comprehensive Doula training to further deepen my knowledge and expand the ways I can support women and families during this transformative time.

What people say…

“I had the most beautiful birth of a little boy yesterday afternoon. 7lbs 10oz. Crystal bowl sound bath playlist, candle light, diffuser on and incredible control on my breathing all thanks to you!! Thank you so much Ella for everything. Visualising my breath blowing the string is what helped me regain my control and composure at the height of the contractions and I was able to have an unmedicated birth while on Syntocinon which I am incredibly proud about because I wouldn’t have thought that was possible! ❤️❤️❤️”

“I attended Ella’s yoga classes throughout my second and third trimester, and they became such an important part of my pregnancy journey and ultimately helped me achieve a successful VBAC. The breath work that we practiced during class were so helpful during labour and delivery. With a busy life, I genuinely looked forward to my yoga class each week and found it so relaxing — it was a chance to slow down, switch off, and reconnect with myself and my baby.

Ella’s calm guidance and soft, reassuring nature created such a supportive and empowering environment. I’m so grateful for her support and would highly recommend her classes to any expectant mom.”
